Last weekend I was asked to shoot a Jeep Wrangler event in Rhinebeck, NY. The event was outdoors in strong midday sun and featured roughly 100 Jeep's that were outfitted for off-road or for the imminent zombie apocalypse.
I decided to shoot with my Panasonic GH4 on a shoulder rig with my Ninja Blade acting as a recorder/monitor. As you can see in the photo below, I use a simple piece of cardboard as a sunshade for the NInja Blade. I threw the 5D on Sachtler Ace with a 70-200mm zoom for some quick shots of unsuspecting bystanders.
Lately I've been shooting in Cine-D on the GH4 with Master Pedestal set to +15. Just trying to get as flat an image as possible. With the Canon 5D I'm still shooting with good 'ol Cinestyle profile.
I cut the video in Premiere CC and started my grading with James Miller's deluts. I like to start with these and then throw on an RGB Curves above them and finish off the look with Colorista. Definitely need to keep working on my color grading.
