Go Topless

Last weekend I was asked to shoot a Jeep Wrangler event in Rhinebeck, NY. The event was outdoors in strong midday sun and featured roughly 100 Jeep's that were outfitted for off-road or  for the imminent zombie apocalypse.

I wish this fake zombie hood ornament looked more like a decomposing Nicolas Cage.

I decided to shoot with my Panasonic GH4 on a shoulder rig with my Ninja Blade acting as a recorder/monitor. As you can see in the photo below, I use a simple piece of cardboard as a sunshade for the NInja Blade. I threw the 5D on Sachtler Ace with a 70-200mm zoom for some quick shots of unsuspecting bystanders.

Lately I've been shooting in Cine-D on the GH4 with Master Pedestal set to +15. Just trying to get as flat an image as possible. With the Canon 5D I'm still shooting with good 'ol Cinestyle profile.

I cut the video in Premiere CC and started my grading with James Miller's deluts. I like to start with these and then throw on an RGB Curves above them and finish off the look with Colorista. Definitely need to keep working on my color grading.

This jeep was pretty cool and apparently had something impressive under the hood. Someone tried to explain it to me but it all just sounded like Charlie Brown's teacher.

Enjoy the full video or just watch a few seconds.
